Locked in Chaos (Chaos)
Your body has embraced the twisted changes of the first steps along your Path of Chaos more fully than you would have imagined possible. While this means your body has been irrevocably changed, it also makes it more difficult for chaos to change you further.
Prerequisites: Ability to cast chaos magic.
Benefits: Every step along your Path of Chaos is now considered a locked step, meaning you must spend double the normal amount of experience to purge it (see the Chaos Mage Character Class chapter). It is much more difficult for you to progress further along your path as well; you are considered to be two steps lower (to a minimum of one step) along your path for the purposes of determining the effects of backlash only. So, a chaos mage with this feat who has taken three steps along a Path of Chaos would only take another step if he rolled a 1 on his backlash check, while the same mage with seven steps would only take another if he rolled 5 or lower.
Special: Should a mage with the feat Split Path select this feat, the benefits and penalties are applied to both paths. This feat cannot be selected by a character who has the Immutable Will feat, nor may a character with this feat later select Immutable Will.
