The elder mother always takes the shape of a very beautiful woman though, when one looks closer, its true nature is revealed. While her cousin, the uilloctul, is known for the flowers that grow on her body, this creature has deadly vines with poisonous thorns twisting around her slender body. Whereas the uilloctul has a green tint to her skin, the elder mother is grey and sometimes black, a testimony that her very dark and twisted essence has been corrupted by the ancient hatred that fills her.Her deep and foreboding eyes give her sinister nature away and are usually hidden behind hair or decoration. According to legend, adventurers who gaze into the eyes of the elder mother receive visions of death, of themselves and those they love.

There are some forests of legend where heroes journey to, yet few leave. These are twisted and eerie places, lost somewhere between the worlds. This is where you find the elder mother and her thorny domain. The first elder mother was once a uilloctul, a maiden of nature and flowers, but somewhere she became lost and could not find her way back.

The elder mother has one true enemy, the uilloctul, her pure-bred cousin. The Elder Mother is always seeking rumors about these creatures, though the reasons behind this hatred remains a mystery.
The elder mother speaks elven, abyssal and draconic.

Combat

The elder mother is a vicious hunter and will use all her powers to capture her enemies and her prey. She will try to avoid direct confrontation if possible, but will not hesitate if force is needed.

Mother’s Gaze (Su): Those who gaze into the elder mother’s eyes will see themselves, as the elder mother sees the uilloctul and despair. This supernatural ability works like a Crushing Despair, range 30 feet; Will DC 18 negates. The save DC is Intelligence-based.

Shift Form (Su): Once every day, this creature is able to take on another shape of any size. The new shape can be any creature from the SRD. This is an illusion and the elder mother has none of the beast’s actual powers.

This illusion last for about 1 hour, and the onlookers must make a Will save (DC 19) to see through this illusion. The elder mother often reveals herself when she chooses to engage in combat.

Spell-like Abilities: At will - Ghost Sound, Ventriloquism. 1/day - Hypnotic Pattern, Invisibility, Misdirection, Displacement, Phantasmal Killer. Caster level 13th. The save DCs are Intelligence-based.

Telepathy (Su): The elder mother can use telepathy to communicate at will.

Poison Thorns (Ex): Paralysis, Fortitude DC 15, initial paralysis 1d6 rounds, secondary paralysis 10 rounds (1 minute). The poison is injected on a successful sting.
